Description

Several projects are either under way or pending which use natural atmospheric radionuclide measurements as indicators of (1) air-mass origin and long-range transports, (2) stratosphere-troposphere exchange rates, and (3) fluxes and residence times of atmospheric trace constituents. Research is conducted on board NASA's ER-2, DC-8, and C-141 aircraft using instrumentation developed for measurements of ¹⁰Be, ⁷Be, ³²P, ³⁵S, ²²²Pb, and ²¹⁰Po.
