Description
Ecosystem dynamics driven by physical, chemical, and biological processes at various spatial and temporal scales are known to impart significant control on atmospheric composition. The goal of this project is to develop regional scale models of the processes, which regulate the exchange of trace gases between the surface of the Earth and the Planetary Boundary Layer, using
in situ
and remotely sensed measured variables. Research focuses on (1) methane flux in tundra and taiga combining surface aircraft and satellite data, particularly radar data, and (2) developing tower-based micrometeorological techniques using instrumentation for detailed observations of trace-gas flux.
